Metrics

Bibliometrics is a quantitative and statistical technique for measuring production indexes and the dissemination of knowledge, as well as monitoring the development of several scientific areas and the patterns of authorship, publication and use of research results.

The evaluation of scientific production, important for the recognition of researchers from the scientific community, is done through the application of several bibliometric indicators, which are divided into indicators of quality, importance and scientific impact.

The following two resources are presented as bibliometric tools:

  • Scimago Journal & Country Rank (Scopus): Portal that includes journals and scientific indicators by country, obtained from the Scopus® platform. These indicators can be analyzed by access and analyzed by scientific area.
  • Web of Science: Integrated research platform, owned by ISI, with access to various databases with bibliographic and bibliometric information related to scientific production.

In addition, the following resource may take on a complementary role in this area:

  • Top25 Hottest Articles: Provides the 25 most read articles from ScienceDirect, in the last three months, by subject area.
